Prayer for Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I
desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, Come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there And unite myself wholly to you. Never
permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
Christmas Masses
For those who plan to attend Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Holy Masses, please note the following information. Please share this information to as many people as possible.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our Church can accommodate 250 people. Attendance will be accomplished on a first come first served basis. The ushers will take an actual count as people enter the Church and once the permitted number of people have arrived, they will ask that you consider attending another Mass. Please understand and be considerate of the situation and be as cooperative as possible. Try to arrive to the Church at least fifteen minutes before the scheduled Mass. If any one feels uncomfortable, please feel free to attend spiritually or virtually. I need your prayers and generous support to our Church so that we may continue to do God's work in the coming year. Know that you are in my prayers and you will be remembered at every Mass during this Blessed Season of Christ's birth.
With gratitude,
Fr. Sebastian

Gaudete Sunday
Gaudete Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent. Like Lent, Advent is a penitential season, so the Priest wears violet vestments. But on Gaudete Sunday, having passed the midpoint of Advent, the Church lightens the mood a little, and the Priest may wear rose vestments. The change in color provides us with encouragement to continue our spiritual preparation
— especially prayer — for Christmas. For this same
reason, the third candle of the Advent wreath lit on Gaudete Sunday, is traditionally rose-colored.

Everyone needs a guardian angel, especially in these times of isolation and anxiety. Many members of our parish are living alone with no one present in the home to check on their welfare. Being alone does not mean that you are alone. Your Parish Family cares and would like to propose a new ministry, The Guardian Angel Society. If you would like a quick call or text message each day to check that you are well and to reaffirm that you are being thought of, please call Karen Pennington at 914-769-0637 or Nancy DeLorenzo at 914-769-7223.

While last week’s Gospel reminded us of the message of John the Baptist, today’s invites us to consider the man. “Just who do you think you are?” was the question the religious leaders asked him. John knew who he was and who he was not. He was not the great prophet Elijah returned, nor the Prophet whom Moses has said God would raise up, nor was he the Messiah long awaited. The Gospel of John puts it this way: “He was not the light, but came to testify to the light.” John defined himself in relation to Jesus as “one crying out in the desert, make straight the way of the Lord.” Advent calls us to know who we are—Christians, followers of Jesus. Paul offers a verbal profile of those who live in Christ: people who rejoice always, who pray without ceasing, who give thanks in all circ*mstances. The “always” aspect of this description might be daunting but it is God at work in us, who can make us “perfectly holy,” who “is faithful, and he will also accomplish it.” Do you recognize how God is at work in you? Do you know who you are “in Christ”?
HOLY ROSARY CHRISTMAS PROJECT
Due to the pandemic, it was decided to collect gift cards this year, all to benefit struggling families living in the South Bronx. The generosity of Holy Rosary Parish was overwhelming with many envelopes containing multiple gift cards.
As of Monday, December 7th, donations totaled $9000, which will be used to purchase gifts for over 100 children who have submitted their wish lists. These children range in age from babies in need of warm clothing to teenagers asking for art supplies and sports equipment. Dolls, games, books, action figures, crayons and coloring books, puzzles, toys of all descriptions were frequently requested gifts. Thank you to all who donated. Please know that you have brought happiness and joy to these 48 families in this time of stress and sadness. Merry Christmas and may 2021 bring many blessings to you.

Reading
– Isaiah 61:1-2A, 10-11
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; he has sent me to bring glad
tidings to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the
prisoners, to announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God. I rejoice heartily
in the LORD, in my God is the joy of my soul; for he has clothed me with a robe of salvation and wrapped
me in a mantle of justice, like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem, like a bride bedecked with her jewels.
As the earth brings forth its plants, and a garden makes its growth spring up, so will the Lord GOD make
justice and praise spring up before all the nations.
Responsorial Psalm
R. My soul rejoices in my God
2nd Reading – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
Brothers and sisters: Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circ*mstances give thanks, for this is the
will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophetic utterances. Test
everything; retain what is good. Refrain from every kind of evil. May the God of peace make you perfectly
holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will also accomplish it.
Gospel – John 1:6-8, 19-28
A man named John was sent from God. He came for testimony, to
testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He was not
the light, but came to testify to the light. And this is the testimony of
John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to
him to ask him, “Who are you?” He admitted and did not deny it, but
admitted, “I am not the Christ.” So they asked him, “What are you
then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the
Prophet?” He answered, “No.” So they said to him, “Who are you,
so we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you have to say for yourself?”
He said: “I am the
voice of one crying out in the desert, ‘make straight the way of the Lord,'” as Isaiah the prophet said.” Some
Pharisees were also sent. They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ or Elijah or
the Prophet?”
John answered them, “I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not
recognize, the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.” This happened in
Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
